20+ years inside operationally heavy software

Muna and I worked together as fellow Lead UX Designers at WiseTech Global. He joined our team through an acquisition, bringing a background in UI design and working solo. He quickly brought new energy to our team.

What I appreciate most about Muna is his enthusiasm and openness to new ideas. He's a genuinely innovative thinker, unafraid to put forward big ideas and push the team's thinking in new directions.

It was a pleasure working with Muna as our lead UI/UX designer for Trinium Web. I've worked closely with Muna cross-functionally as PM over the last 5+ years and he's the kind of collaborator you want on a project. Over the time we worked together, he touched a lot, including our driver mobile app and its administrative portal, the redesign of our legacy TMS into a modern web app, and plenty more. For a good stretch, he was carrying UX for the company solo, which was no small thing. Through all of it, he's been easy to work with across teams. Thoughtful, straightforward, and genuinely open to other people's input.

On the TMS work specifically, he took the initiative to put together designs and prototypes that used AI in ways most of us hadn't really thought through yet. What I appreciated was that he didn't get carried away with it. He cared deeply about whether people would use it, not just whether it was a cool idea.

He was also always flexible about adjusting his schedule to overlap with ours, and it never felt like an afterthought on his part. I'd work with him again in a heartbeat.

Muna is the kind of person who makes you think differently. Not in a loud, look-at-me way, but through the work he shares, the questions he asks, and the way he approaches problems.

We were teammates in the same design team at WiseTech Global, each covering different products within the same portfolio. Even without overlapping daily, I could see his influence on how the team thought about design, especially around AI. He was not just the first to explore it seriously, he brought others along with him. He built an agent-driven logistics prototype that genuinely shifted how our team was thinking about the future of the product. That kind of initiative is rare.

But what I will remember most is that he is a genuinely good person. Curious, open, and easy to be around. The work is excellent, but the human behind it makes it mean something.

Muna is a meticulous UI designer with a keen eye for detail and deep understanding of the domain who brings strategic thinking and a change mindset to the teams and products he supports. He has the capacity to spread himself across multiple products, domains and design systems while maintaining quality, influencing priority calls and shaping timelines in a way that ensures he can support projects in the best possible way. He's genuinely curious and committed to learning and growing. I've watched him deliberately develop a more mature UX design process over the last 18 months, grounded in real user understanding through thoughtful research, clearly articulated user goals and scenarios, and rigorous design thinking. He was also the first on our team to deeply integrate AI into his workflow, and has been willing to challenge our team's assumptions about how we approach these tools in both our design process and in the design solutions themselves. Most recently, he developed and iterated a fully automated, agent-driven logistics prototype that meaningfully advanced our team's thinking about transport in an AI future.

What it comes down to is someone who genuinely cares about the work, the people he works with, and the product experiences he creates. I worked with Muna for over six years. I was VP of Engineering and he was our Lead UX/UI Designer, and in that time we built a lot of products together. Web apps, mobile apps, all of it.

Muna cares. That's the simplest way to put it. He took real pride in design and user experience, and it always showed in the work. He didn't just wait for specs to land on his desk. He'd go talk to customers/product mangers, dig into what they actually needed, and bring that back into the product. For a good stretch, he and I were on a call every single morning, and those conversations were some of the best I've had. He was always thinking a step ahead, asking what's next instead of settling for what already worked.

He's also just a genuinely good person to have around. We never hesitated to put him in front of stakeholders, customers, or business leaders. He's professional and clearly passionate, but also the kind of person you can just pick up the phone and chat with. One more thing worth mentioning: he scales. At WiseTech he stepped into a much larger team, picked up the patterns they already had in place, helped reinvent existing products, and wasn't shy about going into a system and pointing out where it could be better.
